When I saw this fabric I knew it would a be challenge for me. The base of this fabric is Ponte, which is a structured fabric. I don’t wear or use Ponte often because it’s thick and can get a little hot while wearing down here in South Florida. The print is pretty and something that I don’t normally see around in shops or online. So I knew I wanted to make something really cool.

The first thing that came to mind was a skirt, and of course it had to have pockets. The skirt portion of Pattern for Pirates Sweetheart pattern was perfect. I did add a band to it. I had some fabric left over from cutting out the skirt, and I didn’t want to throw it in the scrap pile. I remembered that the Hepburn crop top, also by Pattern for Pirates, didn’t take up much fabric. It was just enough to make that top.

When I put on these two items together, it looks like it’s a dress! I love that I can get so many different looks from these separates. The skirt can be paired with a cute shirt and vest. The top can be paired with a cute pair of palazzo pants or a maxi skirt. I hope you enjoyed this post. Much love and Many blessings.
